North Room: Benjamin Kress

September 9- October 9, 2004

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 9, 6 - 8 pm

Using a mix of materials that include pencil, mylar, paper, glass, acrylic and lucite, Benjamin Kress draws and slices found and invented imagery to create composite atmospheric portraits. Only indirectly about specific time, place, and politics, the work seeks to describe the intangible through tangible means, the sacred through the profane, and the optical through the tactile.

Benjamin Kress completed his graduate education in painting and printmaking at Yale University School of Art in May 2004. This will be his first solo show in New York.
