North Room:

Calvin Seibert

Paintings

September 9 - October 11, 2003

Opening Reception: Friday, September 12, 6 - 8 pm

Calvin Seibert is best known for a series of small ink and gouache drawings that he has been exhibiting in New York since 1995. The artist’s primary concern has always been the physical and emotional appeal of shapes. While the drawings tended toward odd mechanical bio-morphs, the paintings are more abstracted nature. As with Chinese poet’s rocks, the nature is a practiced and cultivated one. Flat shapes defined by a raised line overlap and build upon one another forming larger constructions with a sculptural presence.

This will be his fourth show with the gallery and the first exhibition of paintings.
